We have several options for funding Education, initiatives, and more for RVA long-term. This funding beyond the 13 million dollar surplus.
Developing the property (The Diamond) on the boulevard would offer the city much-needed revenue. We can develop this property for maximum potential and this will offer new property tax dollars.
This property will also off new middle-class jobs, new small businesses, New affordable housing, and workforce opportunities.
Offering these opportunities will generate funds and lower crime by creating more opportunities for an honest day's work.
Negotiating a new payment in lieu of taxes with the state and VCU. Working with the corporation in the area to assist in funding projects. Also, we can generate more revenue by putting some more of the byted properties and tax-delinquent properties back on the books. Offering homeownership and small business ventures. Offering small tax credits that put their revenue dollars back into the city. Some of these solutions have been suggested before but never executed.
This would establish more tax dollars. Which means more revenue.
These things also increase economic upward mobility for the middle and lower class.
It is the Mayor's job to keep the city viable and I will do just that as the Mayor of Richmond Va.
